Why school-specific?
School first aid sits in a tricky space — too "child-focused" for adult FAW courses, but rarely needs the full 12-hour paediatric Compulsory Register course. This 1-day option covers exactly what school staff actually face: playground bumps, allergic reactions, asthma attacks, fevers, the occasional knocked tooth.
What you'll learn
- The role of a school first aider (and what's NOT your job)
- Paediatric CPR with school-age scenarios
- Choking — primary-age and secondary-age technique
- Asthma attack management (the most common school emergency)
- Allergic reactions & auto-injector use (EpiPen, Jext)
- Fits, fevers, head injuries — the playground classics
- Bleeding, burns, eye injuries, dental knock-outs
- When to call parents · when to call 999
- School first aid record-keeping requirements
How it works
This is a blended-learning course — your staff complete some theory online in their own time, then I come to your school for a focused practical classroom day. Most schools schedule the in-person day on a teacher training day or a weekend. I bring all equipment — manikins, AED trainer, bandages, the lot. You provide a hall or large classroom and tea.
